Former Frasher & Back To You star has had a mild heart attack, he is in a hospital in Hawaii.

5-29-08 - The Great Harvey Korman Dies

One of the funniest guys to ever appear on TV in the 60's & 70's, Harvey Korman has died at age 81.  Korman was mainly known for his role on the Carol Burnett Show where he was superb.

5-25-08 - Comedian Dick Martin Dies

One of the funniest guys of our lives, Dick Martin has died, he was 86.  Martin became a big star in the late 60's when he co-hosted Rowan & Martin's Laugh In.

5-21-08 - David Cook wins American Idol

Congratulations to David Cook, this years American Idol.  We predict this young singer will go far and have a string of hit records.  This years American Idol finale was just so-so.  Donna Summer appeared and didn't look healthy & there were two really dumb skits with The Love Guru & Gladys Knight.  The horrible singer with the marching band was a total waste of time. Putting Simon's putdowns to music actually worked & Brooke singing with Graham Nash was really good.  

5-20-08 - Kristi Yamaguchi wins Dancing With The Stars.

It was no big surprise that Kristi Yamaguchi won this years Dancing With The Stars competition on ABC TV.  Kristi beat out NFL star Jason Taylor who also did a wonderful job.

2-12-08 - Former Sportscaster Bill Currie dies

Well he won't go down in history as being one of the best sportscasters but probably one of the more colorful.  Former Kdka TV sportscaster Bill Currie has died of a brain hemorrhage, he was 84.  Currie used to wear these multi-colored sports jackets when he did the sports and then did a commentary like he was a southern minister.  In Pittsburgh we called he "Sweet Ole Bill".

2-10-08 - ESPN to drop female sideline reports.

Don't be looking for Suzy Kolber or Michelle Tafoya this season on Monday Night Football as sideline reporters.  You may still see them on pre or post game reports

Co-host of the TV show The Insider Pat O'Brien has entered rehab, he was last seen on the show about a week ago.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers broadcaster Myron Cope is back in the hospital with pneumonia, Myron is now 79 and has been in bad health the last few years.

During the 60's Barry Morse was a familiar face on TV as he played LT. Girard on the Fugitive.  Morse spent 4 years tracking down Dr. Richard Kimble.  Morse also appeared in an episode of Outer Limits with Carroll O'Connor, Barry Morse was a great actor.

Shell Kepler who played a busy body nurse on General Hospital in the 80's & 90's has died, she was 49.  No cause of death was released

The TV wife of Bob Newhart in the 70's, Suzanne Pleshette has died, she was 70 years old.

1-20-08 - Sam the Butcher from the Brady Bunch dies.

Actor Allan Melvin who played Sam the Butcher on the Brady Bunch has died, he was 84.  Melvin was a top notch actor who also appeared on the Andy Griffith Show, Dick Van Dyke & All in the Family.  Melvin was also the voice of Magilla Gorilla.

1-20-08 - Miss America Pageant to air on TLC.

This year the Miss America Pageant will air on TLC, the pageant is scheduled to air Jan. 26 at 8pm.

Game show host Alex Trebek has suffered a heart attack. Trebek is hospitalized in a Los Angeles hospital and is expected to be releases in a few days.  Trebek plans to resume taping of his Jeopardy game show in January.

Lillian Ellison known to wrestling fans as The Fabulous Moolah has died, she was 84.  Moolah competed in wrestling since 1949 and was the longest reigning champion of pro wrestling.  Even at age 76 she captured the WWE Women's Title.

10-31-07 - Dancing With The Stars VCR Alert for Pittsburgh Pa.

This coming Monday night the Pittsburgh Steelers football game will preempt Dancing With The Stars on WTAE TV in Pittsburgh.  Dancing With The Stars will air the following morning at 9am.  Maybe Comcast Cable will get a bright idea and air  the show on their local station via the ABC station in Youngstown Ohio

Judges & viewers were stunned when Sabrina Bryan was eliminated from the competition.  Jane Seymour missed the results show with an illness.

10-30-07 - Country Music performer Porter Wagoner Dies

Popular country music performer Porter Wagoner has died, he was 80.  Known as "The Wagonmaster" Porter hosted a weekly syndicated Country music show in the 60's & 70's.  Dolly Parton was a regular on the show.  The Porter Wagoner Show can still be seen on RFD TV.

Well it was somewhat of a surprise but we all agreed Drew Carey did a fine job on his first day on The Price Is Right.

10-14-07 - Comcast eliminated American Life (Goodlife TV) from Pittsburgh market

TVofyourlife.com has received numerous complaints about Goodlife TV being eliminated from the Comcast basic digital package for the Pittsburgh market.  Normally TVofyourlife.com does not get involved in complaints about cable companies but in this instance we will contact both parties and will post our findings.  As we have told  countless people in the past, if you don't like the service you can always cancel Comcast Cable.

Singer & Vegas performer Wayne Newton was eliminated from competition on Dancing With The Stars.  Co-Host Samantha Harris is due back for the next show.

9-26-07 - VCI Entertainment Recall

VCI Entertainment President Robert A. Blair has announced an immediate recall on the 35^th Anniversary Edition of Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things – Exhumed Edition. (Item # 8509)

VCI has just discovered a huge error was made in the new special edition DVD of this cult classic, which had just begun hitting the street. Apparently a last second internal miscommunication sent the wrong DVD master to the replicator. The master that made it thru was unfortunately cut by several minutes and had unfinished video corrections

VCI will begin an immediate recall of the problem DVD’s and will replace them as soon as the corrected DVD master can be replicated.  All direct wholesale and retail customers should contact a VCI Customer Service Rep by calling 800-331-4077, emailing to vci@vcient.com, or faxing to 918-254-6117 to make arrangements. VCI will be posting instructions on their website within a few days which will instruct consumers how to get a free replacement disc.

9-26-07 - Bill Cardille Tribute

There will be a gala event at the Bynum Theater Nov. 10th to celebrate Bill Cardille's 50 years in broadcasting and the event is called "50 Years of Chilly Billy"  Cardille hosted Studio Wrestling and chiller Theater on WIIC TV in the 60's & 70's.

Brett Somers a popular panelist on the Match Game died on 9-15-07 from cancer.  She was 83 years old.

9-17-07 - Keith Olbermann rushed to hospital

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC was taken to the hospital and had his appendix removed.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

9-16-07 - TVofyourlife,com picks for the Fall Season

It looks like ABC has some cool new shows including Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money & Private Practice.  Chuck looks like a winner on NBC and WURG -9 from Fox is probably the show we are looking forward to the most.  Gossip girl from the CW looks interesting but not sure if this will be a big hit.

Merv Griffin creator of such shows as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune died Aug 12 of Cancer.  Merv Grffin was also known for his popular daily talk show that ran from the 60's to the 80's.  Early in his career he a big band vocalist and game show host.

Our message board has been updated, see if there are any postings of interest to you.  We are aware of the increased spam centering around message boards in general and our board is no exception.  By now all should be aware of the Nigerian scams, if you receive any e-mail concerning anything about Nigeria just delete it.  There are also Greeting card scams that read "You have received an e-card from a friend or spouse  or partner"  Just delete these as well, don't even open them up as there could be a virus attached.

Famous opera star Beverly Sills has died, she was 78 and Jazz Saxophone player Boots Randolph has died, he was 80.   Randolph was famous for his song Yakety Sax being used as the theme music for The Benny Hill Show.

7-3-07 - General Hospital Night Shift coming to Soap.net

A prime time version of General Hospital is coming to Soap.net.  The show will not be connected to the daytime storyline but will feature the same cast.  The show debuts on Soap.net Thursday July 12th at 11pm.

6-27-07 - More bad News from the WWE

Georgia Police have announced the Murder/Suicide of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, his wife & son.  Benoit supposedly strangled his wife then smothered his son before hanging himself in the family home in Georgia.  Benoit was one of the best technical wrestlers of the past 20 years in the WWE.  The WWE has also dropped the storyline based on the assassination of Vince McMahon.  McMahon appeared on Raw to make the announcement of Benoit's death.

6-26-07 - New DVD Releases announced

Hank Medress a singer with the pop group The Tokens has died, he was 68.  Medress sang the high parts and is heard on Lion Sleeps Tonight.  Medress was also the creative force behind Tony Orlando & Dawn.

The contract for Days of our Lives will end in early 2009 and who knows if it will get renewed.  Now is the time to let NBC know that you want to save this show.  Days of our Lives will be the only Soap Opera on NBC with the cancellation of Passions.

6-17-07 - Is Vince McMahon really dead?

This time I think Vince & the WWE went just a little over the top on this one giving the impression Vince McMahon was killed when his Limo blew up.  We'll have to see how this plays out.

6-16-07 - Bob Barker retires & wins another Daytime Emmy

The final Price is Right aired this past Friday with Bob Barker.  The show will go into summer re-runs and CBS will announce a new host sometime soon.  Bob Barker has endorsed Rosie O'Donnell but we are pulling for Todd Newton.  Friday Night Bob Barker won another Daytime Emmy, a great way to retire.

6-16-07 - Pro Wrestler Sheri Martel dies

Sheri Martel who was known as "Sensational Sheri" has died, she was only 49.  Sheri was the ladies champion in the WWF & AWA during the 1980's.

6-16-07 - Tunerless DVD/VCR combos

Has anyone noticed that manufactures now are eliminating the tuner on the VCR/DVD combo's.  If you don't have Digital Cable or a Dish you can't record on these new units.  There is not coax cable connection.

Ruth Graham, wife of TV Evangelist Billy Graham has died, she was 87.

It is not as far fetched as you might think, it is rumored that Barbara Walters has been in contact with Paris and who knows may get a shot at co-hosting after she gets out of jail.  Paris should think about putting on a show for the troops in Iraq, maybe that would be a better way for her to do her jail time.

One of the real funny people of Television Charles Nelson Reilly has died.  For most of us we first remember him in the series Ghost & Mrs. Muir in which he did a masterful job.  However he will probably be most remembered for his appearances on Match Game.  You can see Charles Nelson Reilly on Match Game since it is now released on DVD.  Go to our DVD Master List on the home page of TVofyourlife.com to place your order for this fine DVD from BCI Eclipse.  Charles Nelson Reilly was 76.

5-25-07 - Jordon Sparks wins American Idol

Jordin Sparks outlasted Blake Lewis to win this years American Idol competition.  The finale featured past winners such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood & Taylor Hicks.  Sanjaya performed with a member of Aerosmith and Antonella Barba was there too.

5-23-07 - Apollo Ohno wins Dancing With The Stars

Apollo Ohno and his beautiful 17 year old partner were this years Dancing With The Stars winners.  They beat out Joey Fatone of Insync and Laila Ali.  Ali told Tom Bergeron she was "pissed" at not winning.  Good luck to Samantha Harris with her upcoming pregnancy.

5-14-07 - New DVD Releases in the next few months

In the coming months there are a number of new shows coming to DVD.  These include The Rookies, The Fugitive, Isis, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter & others.  One note to pass along, Bill Cosby Season 2 is being delayed, if we get more info on this we will pass it along.

5-14-07 - WSTV TV from Steubenville Ohio is on www.youtube.com

There are a few rare clips of a 1967/68 Dance Show that originated in Steubenville Ohio called "9 Teen Time" that are on www.youtube.com.  The easiest way to find these is to just type in WSTV.  This show was hosted by Del Curtis who is actually Del Demontreux who worked in New York City and was the announcer at Shea Stadium for Mets baseball.  TVofyourlife.com is trying to obtain the full episodes of these shows.  If anyone has access to these shows please contact us.  We will pay top dollar for these, we are told they contain footage of high school students from the 60's that may now be deceased.  Also if anyone knows the whereabouts of Del Demontreux please let us know, we had a real nice chat with him about 10 years ago as some of our staff here worked at some of the same stations he worked at.

We are getting to the point where just about anyone can go on American Idol.  This past week LaKisha was eliminated.  Blake had better be careful on song slections.

Well it was time for Billy Ray Cyrus to go on Dancing With The Stars.  He sure is a likeable guy but it was time for him go and get back to Hannah Montanah.

5-3-07 - Phil & Chris eliminated on American Idol

Well Simon was right about Phil, his performance was not good enough to stay on American Idol.  Phil actually improved week to week but with 2 people going home this week he was the odd man out.  I guess Simon Cowell's kiss for LaKisha was good luck as she remains.  This coming week Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees is the celebrity who will be helping the Idol contestants.  Let's see if Blake does Jive Talkin in a similar way he did the Bon Jovi song.

5-2-07 - Tom Poston Dies

A real funny guy Tom Poston who appeared on the Steve Allen Show in the 50's and on Mork & Mindy in the 70's and 80's has died.  Poston was always a regular on To Tell The Truth, when he was on this show he made some great facial expressions and didn't even have to say anything and could make any situation funny.  A real enjoyable guy to watch on TV.

5-2-07 - John Ratzenberger eliminated on Dancing With The Stars

Well it was the end of the line for Cheers star John Ratzenberger as he was eliminated from the competition.  Next week it will probably be Billy Ray Cyrus but then after that it will be somebody who is quite good going.  This is anyone's competittion to win.

4-30-07 - New releases from BCI

June 5 BCI is releasing Bill & Bill On His own starring Mickey Rooney.  Prehistoric Park - a six part Television event also hits stores on June 5th.

4-30-07 - S'more Entertainment has new releases for 2007

S'more Entertainment will be releasing the Get Along Game, a mid 80's animated series.  The entire 26 episodes will be included on a 3 DVD set.  Release date is Sept. 18.   Also The Paul Lynde 1976 Halloween Special is coming out Oct. 1, this special features the group "Kiss". Another animated series from 1983 The Littles is due out Oct. 16th.

4-30-07 - Classic shows airing on TV

In many markets there are classic Soul Train episodes from the 1970's airing and Sci-Fi channel will be airing Tales From The Darkside in May.

4-26-07 - What a Night on American Idol

The Idol Gives Back special was a real treat as Celine Dion performed If I Can Dream with Elvis Presley during the show, in my 50+ years of watching Television I thought this was magnificent.  I would have liked this show more if it wasn't part of the regular American Idol broadcast, it was too much like a telethon.  Other than Celine & Elvis the other performers were ok but not outstanding.  This is a great cause to support.  To make a contribution go to www.americanidol.com.

4-25-07 - Heather Mills eliminated from Dancing With The Stars

Heather Mills was eliminated this past week from Dancing With The Stars, expect John Ratzenberger and Billy Ray Cyrus to be the next ones to go.

4-22-07 - Soap Net cancels Another World

It has come to our attention after a number of complaints that Soap Net has cancelled Another World and replaced it with modern prime time soaps such as The O.C. & One Tree Hill.  I thought the whole purpose of Soap Net was to time shift the current soaps and air some classic soaps.  Soap Net, don't make the big mistakes that oldies radio stations are making today by eliminating 1960's music.  Devote at least 4 hours a day to classic shows of the 60's & 70's.

4-19-07 - Kitty Carlisle dies at 96

What class this lady had, no matter what decade we saw her on TV she stayed right up to date and her mind was really sharp.  Her appearances on To Tell The Truth were fabulous.  Kitty Carlisle passed away from heart failure and had battled pneumonia recently.

4-18-07 - Sanjaya Eliminated from American Idol

Finally Sanjaya Malakar has been eliminated from American Idol.  For weeks Sanjaya has had poor reviews from the judges but somehow was not voted off, that was not the case Wednesday Night as America voted Sanjaya off the show.  I won't be surprised if Sanjaya and his sister team up for a show on Nick Jr. or Disney, they would be a fine fit for either of those stations.

4-17-07 - Clyde Drexler Eliminated on Dancing with the Stars

Former NBA star Clyde Drexler was eliminated from the competition on Tuesday Night.  Heather Mills was also in the bottom two after her accident Monday Night on the show.

4-16-07 - Hawaiian Singer Don Ho dies

Don Ho best known for his 1966 hit Tiny Bubbles has passed away at the age of 76 from a heart attack.  Don Ho appeared on a number of TV shows playing himself and had his own daytime TV show in 1976 The Don Ho Show.

4-12-07 - Notes From The Underbelly on ABC

This show will be interesting to see how it does in the ratings.  The first episode was quite enjoyable but the writers kept you guessing what direction they were going from scene to scene.  The show moves to Wednesday night next week on ABC.  It is worth checking out.

4-12-07 - Don Imus fired by CBS

Radio Broadcast legend Don Imus has been fired by CBS just one day after MSNBC pulled the plug on his morning radio show.

4-12-07 - End of the Line for Haley on American Idol

The very pretty Haley Scarnato was eliminated from American idol on Wednesday night.  Haley was certainly not the best singer on this years show but she was fun to watch and you never knew what outfit she would wear.  Sanjaya continues to survive in the competition and his very beautiful sister is starting get many hits on various sites that her name is listed.  Shayamali Malakar was also in the competition but didn't make it to the final 12.

4-12-07 - Andy Richter sitcom cancelled after 4 episodes

NBC has pulled the plug on the Thursday night show Andy Barker P.I.  There are 2 more episodes in the can and will air alter this week.

Leeza Gibbons was the latest to be eliminated from Dancing With The Stars.  Clyde & John are probably the next ones in trouble on the show.  Congratulations go out to Samantha Harris, co-host on Dancing With The Stars who is expecting a baby.

Gina the female rocker on American idol was eliminated from the competition.  Sanjaya continues with no sign of him being eliminated.

The beautiful co-host on Lingo on GSN has been eliminated from Dancing With The Stars.

3-30-07 - CMT to drop Miss America Pageant

It was announced recently that CMT will no longer carry the Miss America Pageant.  Maybe its time for this to air on PBS.

3-30-07 - BCI Eclipse releases two classic horror movies

BCI Eclipse has announced the release of Night of the Werewolf & Vengeance of the Zombies.  These are the uncut versions.
Release date is May 8th.  Retail price is $19.95.

3-29-07 - Chris Sligh eliminated from American Idol

Chris Sligh was the latest to be eliminated from the competition.  Simon was not impressed with his singing of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.  Chris Sligh reminds me of Mark Vollman of the Turtles.  It would be cool to see those two side by side today.  Sanjaya continues to stay in the competition, at least this week there was no crying girl.

3-11-07 - American Idol gets down to the Final 12

The beautiful Antonella Barba was eliminated from competition this past Thursday Night.  A surprise elimination came when Sundance Head was eliminated, Sundance is the son of 1960's singer Roy Head who had the hit "Treat Her Right" in 1965.

3-11-07 - BCI Eclipse to release film "Born to Fight" starring martial arts star and Tony Jaa mentor, Panna Rittikrai.

3-10-07 - Collectors Corner

Some new shows that turned up in private collections recently included American Bandstand 1968 episode with The Rascals/People and also a 1970 American Bandstand with Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan.  I'm told both have original commercials.  3 episodes of Let's Make a Deal from 1969 and a Generation Gap have surfaced.  A 1966 G.E. College Bowl with original commercials has also made the rounds.

3-9-07 - Dancing With the Stars New Season approaches.

Get ready for the new season of Dancing With The Stars on ABC.  The first episode of the new season debuts on March 19 with a two hour premiere.

2-26-07 - Mod Squad & Love American Style coming to DVD?

There have been rumors that both Mod Squad and Love American Style could be coming to DVD this year, we'll have to wait and see of these two get released.  In other DVD news Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters are coming out in May and a second Match Game DVD is out in a few weeks.

1-22-07 - NBC cancels the Soap Opera "Passions"

Nbc has pulled the plug on the Soap Opera "Passions".  Passions has always had low rating and NBC is supposed to add another hour to the Today Show to fill the spot.

1-22-07 - Family Affair Season 3 coming in March

Season 3 of Family Affair is set to be released on 3/27/07 from MPI Home Video.  Other MPI releases include a Dick Van Dyke release called "In Rare Form" this DVD is a must for any Dick Van Dyke fan.

1-21-07 - Cool McCool to be released on DVD

BCI Eclipse is releasing Cool McCool on DVD March 13th, this 3 DVD set was one of the best Sautrday Morning cartoon shows of the late 1960's.  The DVD will be available soon on the Tvofyourlife.com site.

1-3-07 - Country Music Star Del Reeves dies at 74

We at TVofyourlife.com are deeply saddened to report the passing of Country Music star Del Reeves.  Del had a number of top 10 Country hits in the 1960's and continued to record and hit the Country charts until 1986.  Del Reeves appeared at the Grand Ole Opry on many occasions.  Del Reeves was one of the most entertaining performers of his time.  Here at Tvofyourlife.com we always compared Del Reeves as the C&W version of Dean Martin.  Del hosted the Del Reeves Country Carnival show in the late 60's & early 70's.
