This series revolved around the high-tech antics of Richie, Ham, Jeremy, and Alice, the "Whiz Kids." They lived in the suburban LA community of Calabasas, were all schoolmates at Canyon High School, and often got help in amateur detective work from Richie's talking computer, Ralf. With Richie's expert programming, Ralf provided clues, graphic images, answers to problems, and access to other computer info banks that were supposedly protected against unauthorized use. Farley was their friend and information source, a reporter with the LA Gazette who sometimes asked them for help on stories he was working on and at other times got involved with cases on which they were already working. Farley's brother-in-law, Neal Quinn, who ran the police department's Mobile Data Terminals, also provided Farley and the kids with some help when they needed access to police information.l
