1968

1968 saw some new faces in the WWWF such as Virgil The Kentucky Butcher, Rocky Fitzpatrick, The Sheik, & Bull Ramos.  Victor Rivera was the top babyface behind Bruno.

Some veterans returned & had a big year such as Hans Mortier & Killer Kowalski.

The Top Challengers for Bruno's belt in 1968 were Gorilla Monsoon, Professor Tanaka, Virgil The Kentucky Butcher, George Steele, Bull Ramos & Hans Mortier. 

Tag Teams

The year started with no Champions in the WWWF for Tag Teams.

Professor Tanaka & Mitsu Arakawa won the titles in a fictitious tournament.

Tanaka & Arakawa had one title defense in 1968 by defeating Victor Rivera & Antonio Pugliese.

A couple of good tag matches happened in 1968 with Carpentier & Rivera vs Monsoon & Kentucky Butcher.  Bruno Sammartino & Haystacks Calhoun defeated Baron Scicluna & Bull Ramos.

Misc 1968 WWWF

Dr. Bill Miller turned babyface during 1968 after a battle with The Sicilians.  Miller was being doubled teamed and The Battman made the save.

Bob Orton Sr. came to the WWWF and wrestled as Rocky Fitzpatrick & Canadian wrestler John Quinn came in as Virgil The Kentucky Butcher.

The new Madison Square Garden opened in 1968 and Bruno Sammartino faced Bull Ramos that first night.
